They are. Each bundle comes from the same 2000 foot spool that was made in Japan. It is natural colored jute.

For a standard rigging set up how many feet are Hanks of rope are needed I’ve heard about people using like several 8 m ropes or something. I don’t know. I’m just wondering if I should buy more than one or if one’s gonna be more than enough

8 meters is standard in Shibari. If suspending, 8-12 ropes in the 8 m range are recommended. Amount of rope used depends on the tie, person being tied, complexity, number of anchor lines, etc. I typically use 4-6 8 meter ropes for ground ties.
Each bundle is one 300-320 foot length that is uncut. If cut into 8 meter lengths, it will net you approximately 11-12 Hanks of rope

Besides a maximalist performance I've done across three hard points, or when doing a multi-person suspension, I've never needed more than one bundle for a suspension. Happy to get you two bundles though if you'd prefer. Are you currently suspending or doing ground ties?

I haven’t started but I was looking at buying some very nice rope and conditioning it myself as a first step to get acquainted with it and then work my way into it 🤓 I find that kind of work therapeutic

Hope you’ve been well. I wanted to check in about the rope bundle I got from you.

There’s been a faint petrol/gas-type smell on the ropes since I received them. I assumed it would dissipate over time, but it’s been a few months now and it’s still there. I’ve tried boiling them a few times, but that hasn’t cleared it up.

Have you seen this before or have any recommendations? Just wanted to reach out and see what you think would be the best way to handle it.

The scent I jute batching oil or JBO that is used to make the rope. I recommend using a scented rope wax that includes jojoba oil and bees wax to condition the rope. Between that and regularly tying with it, the scent usually goes away after 2-3 weeks. The oils on your hands and the body of who you're tying remove the smell over time as well.
